Mleiha Desert Safari FAQs

The standard evening safari includes: hotel pickup (Dubai & Sharjah), dune bashing in a 4×4 Land Cruiser, camel riding, sandboarding, henna art, Arabic coffee & dates, Tanoura dance show, belly dance show, falcon photography, and a full BBQ dinner at the Bedouin camp.

Mleiha Desert is in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE — approximately 80–95 km east of Dubai (around 60–80 minutes drive). It is significantly quieter and more scenic than the desert areas near Dubai, with dramatic red sand dunes up to 100 metres tall.

The evening safari runs approximately 6 hours: pickup around 3:00–3:30 PM from Dubai hotels, arriving at camp around 4:30–5:00 PM, and returning to your hotel by 9:30–10:00 PM. Morning safaris last 5–6 hours; overnight experiences run approximately 16 hours.

Yes — free hotel pickup from Dubai and Sharjah is included in all our Mleiha safari packages. Our driver will collect you from your hotel lobby. No need to arrange your own transport or navigate to the desert.

Light, comfortable clothing — loose trousers or shorts, a light shirt or t-shirt, and closed-toe shoes or sandals. Evenings can feel cooler (especially Oct–Feb), so bring a light jacket. Sunglasses and a hat are recommended for afternoon departures.

Sunscreen (high SPF), sunglasses, a hat, your camera or phone (fully charged), cash for any optional extras (alcohol, tips), and a light layer for the evening. Everything else is provided at camp.

The standard Bedouin camp does not serve alcohol. Some private packages include an optional licensed drinks upgrade — ask our team when booking if this is important to your group.

Yes — Mleiha Desert Safari is very popular with families. Children typically enjoy the camel rides, sandboarding, and the camp entertainment. Dune bashing involves some bumping and jolting; children under 4 years old are not recommended to participate in dune bashing, but can join their family at camp.

Dune bashing has no strict weight limit. For ATV/quad biking, the recommended maximum weight is around 120 kg. Camel riding is generally suitable for guests up to 100 kg. Please inform us if you have specific requirements.

Yes — we offer flexible cancellation. Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before your safari. Reschedules are always accommodated based on availability. Please message us as early as possible if you need to make changes.

Dune bashing is off-road driving in a 4×4 Land Cruiser over the Mleiha red sand dunes. Our professional drivers climb, descend, and slide across steep dune faces — it's exhilarating, safe, and the centrepiece of the safari experience. Seatbelts are worn at all times.

Yes — our drivers are experienced professionals who have done thousands of dune bashing sessions in the Mleiha terrain. All vehicles are regularly maintained and equipped with safety equipment. Tyre pressure is reduced before the dune session for optimal traction.

Sandboarding is sliding down a sand dune on a board — like snowboarding but on sand. Boards are provided at camp. You'll be shown how to do it safely. It's a favourite with all ages.

Yes — we offer combo packages that include both an evening desert safari and an ATV/quad bike session. This is one of our most popular options for adventure-seeking guests. Ask about combo pricing when you message us.

This is our most premium and photographically iconic experience. You'll be photographed at golden hour on the Mleiha dune crest wearing a flowing dress while it billows in the wind — producing dramatic, Instagram-ready images. It is followed by a private candlelit dinner at camp. Available by request — WhatsApp us to book.

The easiest way is via WhatsApp — message us with your preferred date, group size, and experience type. We'll confirm availability and send your booking confirmation. No prepayment is required; payment is made in cash or card on the day.

No deposit is required to confirm your booking. We reserve your spot based on the WhatsApp confirmation. Payment is collected at the time of pickup.

We recommend booking at least 1–2 days in advance, especially during peak winter season (November–February) and weekends. Last-minute bookings are often possible — message us and we'll advise on availability.

Yes — we accommodate groups of all sizes, from couples to corporate teams of 50+. Large groups receive dedicated vehicles and, if preferred, a reserved camp section. Ask about group rates when you message us.

We accept cash (AED, USD), major debit/credit cards, and bank transfer. Payment is made at the point of pickup or at camp. No online payment is required to confirm your booking.
